Books we are loving this Summer

It is summer and we are loving the warm weather, extra sunshine, and longer days to soak it all in. One of my favorite pastimes in general is reading. I love a good book and being here in the Northwest, we have the perfect weather to cozy up to a good book. In the summer, I love to take my book by the pool or river and get some extra reading in the sunshine.

My reading list consists of multiple genres and topics. Here are a few books I am loving this year and would make a great summer read (in no particular order).

Wander Woman

By Beth Santos

A great book and guide for female solo travel. As someone who loves to travel and has made a few solo trips, this book is a game changer. The book explores the love of travel, how to do so as sustainably and ethically as possible, and tips to get yourself comfortable with solo travel. It is full of inspiration and actionable tips to get the most out of your travels.

Remarkably Bright Creatures

By Shelby Van Pelt

A beautifully written and captivating read. The story takes place here in the Pacific Northwest and follows the life of an older woman working at a local aquarium coping with grief. She befriends an Octopus she lovingly calls Marcellus, who helps her uncover her past and build a new life. While it may seem odd to have an Octopus as a prominent character, the author makes it seem natural and creates beautiful and complex characters you fall in love with.

The Life Impossible

By Matt Haig

A fun summer read. The story takes place in the perfect summer spot, Ibiza. A former math teacher with a very analytical mind takes a chance to live in a house on Ibiza inherited from a long lost friend. While there she begins to unravel the mysterious disappearance of her long lost friend and finds herself experiencing things she cannot explain and seem impossible. I love the character development, the mystery, and feeling that maybe anything is possible.

Another great shout out to Public Libraries. I love going to my local library to find my next great read. A side tangent, but I am a huge supporter of public libraries. They provide a ton of services and resources to the community. Be sure to check out your local library to pick up your next summer read.

If you have any book recommendations, let us know in the comments. We love to check out new books, authors, and topics.

Happy Summer Reading!
