How to Effortlessly Wear a Crop Top Without Showing Your Stomach

How to Effortlessly Wear a Crop Top Without Showing Your Stomach

It is becoming summer weather and it is time to bring out our favorite summer pieces. If you are like me, you have a few dresses and summer tops. You may even have a few crop tops in your closet.

I have a style confession…I love the idea of crop tops for the Spring and Summer, but until recently was unsure how to best style them.

As a Millennial, I remember wearing crop tops and the dreaded low rise jeans (a trend I will not be doing again in the near future). I still love crop tops and found a few ways to style them in a way that feels authentic to my current style and life. I even found ways to style them without showing too much of my stomach. Although if the true crop top and low rise jeans is your style, I fully support it.

The best part is crop tops are surprisingly versatile. I share three ways to style a crop top, including ways to not show a lot of the mid drift. Again, if that is your style, go for it. To illustrate the looks, I am using our Joyful Reversible Cropped Blouse, responsibly made in Guatemala.

Style the Crop Top with High Rise Pant or Skirt

This is honestly my go to style. I love the way the crop top and high rise pants or skirt create a perfect proportion. When we think of proportion we think of styling in thirds, in this case two thirds on the bottom and the crop top makes a perfect one third for the top.

Style the Crop Top over a Dress

This is a great way to style a crop top, again highlighting the proportions. Crop Tops are great over slip dresses (very on trend now) or a sundress. Look for dresses that play on the colors or textures of the crop top for added interest.

Style the Crop Top with another top

Layering different tops can add new interest and extend the style options in your closet. We love being creative with the styling and a crop top offers a variety of ways to do that. Look for tops that can be worn with the crop top neckline and back line to keep a cohesive look.

Styling can be an important part of the slow fashion movement. The most sustainable thing we can do in our closets is wear what we own and make it last as long as possible. As we get into our summer wardrobe, we hope this inspires you to look at new ways to style what you already own, including your crop tops.
